Welcome to version 4.0 of the CypherNet website. For more than a decade we have endeavoured to provide individuals with pointers to the information and tools necessary to ensure personal privacy. When we first came into being in 1996 the primary issue of the day was the U.S. government's attempts to stifle widespread use of cryptographic technologies through outdated export controls. Much has changed since then, but the need for privacy enhancing tools has grown and remains a very important issue.
